In early 2025, I joined Amadeus, Bengaluru as a DevOps Intern. Unlike my earlier data science internships, this experience was all about automation, scalability, and optimizing processes that directly impact engineering teams at scale.
The Problem: Manual Infrastructure Provisioning
At large organizations, provisioning infrastructure often takes weeks of manual effort across multiple teams. My internship challenge was to automate multi-week tasks and turn them into streamlined, repeatable workflows that engineers could trigger effortlessly.
Building Automation with Jenkins, Terraform, and GitOps
Over the course of my internship, I worked on automating four major infrastructure tasks. By leveraging a stack of Jenkins pipelines, Terraform modules, and GitOps workflows, I was able to:\ - Reduce manual effort by nearly 90%.\ - Save 2--3 weeks of effort per task.\ - Enable teams to self-serve their infrastructure needs with minimal friction.
This not only increased efficiency but also reduced dependency bottlenecks, freeing engineers to focus on higher-value tasks.
Beyond Code: Lessons Learned
Working at Amadeus was a different scale compared to my previous experiences.
